What kind of piper are you?

Post by simonknight »

Extracting one of the themes from the long running makers thread, how do you classify yourself as a piper? :D

I'm an ex full time musician trying to master these strange things - I practice regularly and would like to play as well as I can. I also do like to see traditional music prosper although any Irish roots are buried in my Scots ancestry.

Dedicated traditional musician here.

Though if any pipemakers want to give away a nice B set to a youthful genius, I know a few people who might classify me as one. Just kidding! Mostly.

I am a dedicated trad musician, but I suck on the pipes as I have had a sick spell and was too weak to play them much for the last two years.

I am still working on triplets and I only have two down enough to satisfy me.

I am, of course, a youthful genius.

I'm neither a fast piper, nor a slow piper. I'm a half fast piper.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

"Other". I figure what applies to my life applies to the pipes.

I think I'm an average person doing their best. I do think that I'm progressing quite nicely however. Perhaps with a little more practice I'll become a youthful....well no...an approaching middle aged genius.

i said "average guy" but i really think it's too early to tell. ya never know... i could hit it so mega rich that i cease to care about simple things like trying to make music... although, with a baby almost here, i'm scared of the "never have time to practice" option.

Play the pipes? I have a 3 month old baby, I barely have time to shower and eat.

voted average, but not sure that's a total fit.

I'm one of those pitch-perfectionist freaks who is 'self-teaching' and played in public within the first year of owning his first practice set.

And, I guess luckily for me, folks here aren't from an ITM background, because they generally like what they hear.
