Boehm flute players roll call.

Post by LimuHead »

Just wondering who else here plays the Boehm flute.

Also, do you play ITM on your Boehm?

I've been working on playing the ITM tunes I know on pennywhistle on Boehm flute. It's not going as fast as I wish, but I'm gettin' there.

If you play Boehm flute, let us know who you are.

I'm a reformed Boehm flute player.
Here's a partial list...but I'm sure there are others lurking in the shadows.

Ugghh, sorry, I forgot about the picture on the third page. I can remove this post if people are offended. :wink:

Hi;
I play Boehm almost exclusively. I do own a good simple system keyless wood flute. Indeed have tried many. But I cannot get on with the small oval embouchure so I end up back on the Boehm.
I have owned a wood Boehm flute, a Rudall Carte 1912 model. Great flute but it never really got even close to having a wood sound similar to a simple system flute. Much closer to a metal Boehm in my hands.
I play dance music, jigs, reels, and hornpipes on a wooden whistle, and use the Boehm flute for melodies.

I recently received one as a gift, and as far as I can tell it is a pretty nice one, probably intermediate level. I don't know what to do with it, really, other than to toot a bit and get confused.

I play Boehm system flute as well, and have for many years, though these days my main flute is definitely my Hamilton blackwood.

I've played Boehm for 30 years (aack, I'm old!), and Irish flute for about 3 years now. I'm playing my Boehm less and less, as my love for Irish flute and Irish music has increased. Still play my Boehm in the church orchestra, etc.

I'm a music major in college and play boehm flute, but alas irish flute is my true love :P I have played irish trad on my boehm, but for my tastes it doesn't suit irish trad as well as simple sytem flutes do.

I play Boehm flute, and I dabble with the Irish flute. Irish music seems to be easier on the "Irish flute", because of all those F#s.
