Tell us something.: I restore 19th century flutes, specializing in Rudall & Rose, and early American flutes. I occasionally make new flutes. Been at it for about 15 years.

Thanks for all the kind words! Since I didn't get any cards or gifts, this is the best present!
Jim, it is nice to see another Piesces on the board! That explains a lot.
I don't really feel over the hill, but it was harder to get out of bed this morning...
Take care,
Jon

Thanks for the good wishes.
I wish I were 50!
Actually the 50s are a good time.
You'll have lots of fun, Jon.

Eh, John - don't worry too much about it. It's just a number.

My dad made a big thing about turning 50, so much that everyone ended up showing up at his party wearing black mourning armbands. By contrast, he wasn't at all put off by his 65th (or at least he was afraid to mention it!)

I'm counting on you to set a good example for me - I hit it myself in another couple of years. And if possible I want to go directly from juvenile reprobate to hardened old sinner. My wife tells me that I'm likely to be successful in my endeavor :D, but I'll take all the help I can get.

Jon, you of course know what this means now? You've officially achieved

:thumbsup:FLUTE GEEZER STATUS!!!

You may now creak a little when you play, and nobody will say anything...but, look at that old geezer over there...

And then you can just flash them back, a knowing, unfettered smile...and play away! You're also allowed to forget where you were in a tune, and pick it up later, when you remember again...see, just part of the benefits of geezerhood~!

Jim, Happy Birthday too! Now you can creak a lot!!!
