Pre-schoolers: a tough crowd
Hi folks,
I need some help!!
Any suggestions for traditional Irish songs I could teach my daughter's pre-school class? Something with a simple chorus, preferrably.

In my experience, young children have enjoyed learning Mairi's Wedding.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

I would suggest staying away from Pretty Peg or the Jolly Beggar Man unless you enjoy explaining things... In fact, there's probably a whole bunch of songs you should stay away from...
More seriously I would suggest keeping things short with lots of variety since in my experience young children have the attention span of a newt.
You might also want to consider passing around a cheap whistle or two for the kids to look at while you are playing or talking.

I was actually trying to find a good version and all I could find was garbage. This one took the biscuit for awfulness though.

Yeah, you are right. It's a bit long for their attention span.anniemcu wrote:Not even second graders, Mukade, ... not sure that one is all that appropriate.mukade wrote:Seven Drunken Nights is an excellent way to learn the days of the week.
