- Tell us something.: From the land beyond beyond. From the time past hope and fear. I bid you, Genie, now appear! Well, the Genie did not appear but the notification to type at least 100 characters did so I am back and typing some more as you, if anyone actually sees this, can probably tell.

Tyler...what has happened to you, as a result of the suicide, is incredible. This happened to me, years ago. A bright and beautiful young woman took her life. I believe I was the last to see her. We spoke of deep things...serious things...during that last visit. The next day she was gone.
We were in college, and "serious" talks were not uncommon. So, my shock at her death was total. Absolute, grinding, confused amazement!
After a long time of self-anger and grief, at not having detected her real level of despair...I gradually was left with the sheer mystery of it.
Strength to you, and to all involved.

- Tell us something.: I've picked up the tinwhistle again after several years, and have recently purchased a Chieftain v5 from Kerry Whistles that I cannot wait to get (why can't we beam stuff yet, come on Captain Kirk, get me my Low D!)

I am truly sorry. Mental illness is something my family has delt with and don't be rough on yourself. There's really no way another person can really understand what is going on with someone in that state.
You and your family and friends are in my prayers.

Tyler I am so sorry about your friend.
Don't be too hard on him, or yourself. Depression isn't just a mood problem, it's a brain function disorder--he reached a level of mental dysfunction that most of us can't understand. To take one's own life is so unthinkable to most of us that we wouldn't think of it, nor anticipate it in another. People who are deeply depressed often also feel ashamed that they just aren't functioning like other people, and hide how they are truly struggling from both friends and family.
I feel for him, and for you. My BIL took his lifeyears ago, and I remember the devestating shock of it.
