Thank you all, and please keep them coming ... he's in critical condition, with head injury and more... they will have him heavily sedated for several days at the very least, probably a week, and it will be a while after that before they are able to tell if he will have brain damage. Poor kid, and please add prayers for his friend, who was driving, and not only has physical recovery to face but a world of weight on his young shoulders with the responsibility... he and his family need our prayers as well.

Thank you all again, I can't tell you how much it means to know that friends I've never even seen are there for me in times of need. Bless you all!

Tell us something.: Long ago, I was told that I faked iTrad whistle work very well. I took that comment to heart. 20 years of private lessons - and many, many hours of rehearsal later - I certainly hope I have improved...

Thank you all , once again.... and please keep them coming.

Our daughter is staying at the hospital, with official family status, thanks to his mom. He is stable, though still in critical condition. The brain swelling is still getting a bit worse, but the first 72 hours is the most critical, and it's only be half that... The family is very touched that all those folks out in the ether have their son in their prayers. Thank you again. It means a lot.

And I can attest to the incredible power of prayers and positive energy... it can work miracles!

Thanks for the update. I'll keep sending more positive thoughts for everyone there. What a thing.

UPDATE

Our boy is now a little over the first 48 hours, still very heavily sedated (basically a drug-induced coma), but my daughter says he looks a little better, they've been able to stitch one of the cuts on his face, and it seems that the swelling in the brain is no longer escalating. Tomorrow, the 'first 72 hours' barrier will be passed and we can begin to look for some recovery.

A CAT scan reveals that there is some brain damage, so he will likely need rehab therapy, as is expected. We won't know how much that damage affects him until he is fully out of the woods and able to be brought back to full conciousness. She is hopeful, as are we, that he will recover well.

Please continue to hold him in your prayers/thoughts/hearts.

The young man who was driving is recovering well. I believe he does not yet know the extent of his friend's injuries. I don't think his recovery would be helped by that knowledge. He will have to deal with it at some point, but I am glad he is still ignorant of it for now. Both mothers are together and visiting Lance now. May they find strength, grace and hope in each other's company.

Thank you all for your continued 'good vibes'. :) Keep 'em comin'!

Wow, I just tuned into this very sobering thread. Needless to say, you'll all be in my thoughts and prayers. Strength and blessings to you all.

That's encouraging news annie. I know that we get attached to their "fellers" and they can seem almost like one of our own when they've been around a while. Continued prayers here.....
