Tell us something.: I've been playing whistle for a very long time, but never seem to get any better than I was about 10 years ago. I'm okay with that. :)

I voted for Susato but they are a bit more expensive than the others.

I've had a couple of Oaks that were very nice, but quiet.

Walton's brass Mello-D's are nice too.

I've never played a quiet Oak. But then, if you play Susatos a lot, I guess an Oak would seem quiet... :o

Ah, you're right. I was thinking Clarke original. I guess that's obvious, though, isn't it? :)

If we're talking US dollars then I'd expect a book and CD with that cheapie!

For me it's a toss-up between Feadog and Gen - Gens have that super trad sound and yet, Feadog takes it to a different level. They each have their place. Then again, it's great to have a Clarke or Shaw for that nice conical sound, and a SYN (specially the C), Dixons are so sweeet, Susato for steppin-out, some of Jerry's tweakers and a Busman and a few Chieftains and an Abell or 2 and one of Wanderer's Stonehenge jobbies, and did you see those new thangs that Garry Humphrey's making!? Reviols - mmmm, A couple Overtons (by George and Colin.G). Better keep a few classics - a Thin Weazel, a Bleazey, Copeland. Those Hoover wood things are looking good. Some rare stuff would be nice - Off keys by Grinter, Ian Simpson, a Sweet Resonance in blackwood! AAARGH the list is endless - so many whistles, so little cash!!

I do like my beat-up old Feadog - it's not the best whistle in the world - but then no one knows what the best whistle in the world is.
All the best!

Walton not included? The Walton Mellow D, the LBW and the nickel D all have quite a following.

The polls only allow one vote and I ain't tellin' which "one" I voted for but my top three whistles that I play most are, in alphabetical order: Feadog, Gen, and Oak (which, by the way, if you think is a quiet whistle then I'd hate to hear a loud one).

That recorder that Capn Kirk played on the star movie, that's what.

I would prefer a Feadog, but only after it was altered by a tweaker.

I'm not sure which I like to play the best, but I voted Generation because they are definitely my favorite to hear.
