My new tune teaching video site: www.tradlessons.com

Post by eskin »

Hi y'all,

I've just launched a new site:

http://www.tradlessons.com

where I'm putting up close shot videos of my playing common tunes at speed, then slowly.

Right now its all whistle videos, but eventually, I'll add Drop-D guitar backup, Uilleann pipes and anglo concertina. Other local players and teachers from San Diego may also be contributing to the site.

If you like me to do a video for a specific tune, please drop me an email at:

michael@tradlessons.com

with your request and please consider a small donation to the site.

I hope some of players here will find the site useful.

Cheers and thanks,

Michael

This is fantastic!!
I certainly will visit a lot, and donate!
I've noticed, from your first video, that you lift your fingers far off the whiste when you play. I 've been trying not to do that, thinking it harms my speed. What do you think?

Great initiative and very nice playing Michael :D

I also liked the feature that allow you play all the tunes simultanously.
It drove my coworkers insane within a minute

Good luck with the site!

Tell us something.: I've been playing whistle for a very long time, but never seem to get any better than I was about 10 years ago. I'm okay with that. :)

Thanks Michael!

Our local slow/learning session hasn't met for a few weeks so I've been on the lookout for some new tunes to learn from a good source.

I think I'll spend a few hours this afternoon learning a couple from your site.

That's brilliant.

Nice one, eskin. :)

Is that a Doyle flute you're playing there? Just curious - couldn't find a matching flute on your Whistle/Flute comparison page.

Its a keyless Terry McGee in gidgee wood. Proabably the easiest flute to blow I've ever played, and great if you don't practice flute every day.

Looks great Michael! I've linked to it on my Whistle Links page, and our traditional sessions site.

I really appreciate being able to watch someone play. It helps me understand just what's being done a little a better, and certainly a lot quicker.

I did note that the Musical Priest clip didn't actually play. (EDIT - As of 7:20 am Monday it's working)

Nice whistle playing. How can we get the audio to match the visual? Bit disconcerting on my machine.

That's awesome Michael! I'm a total beginner, and I think this will help a lot. :)
