The invoice shows my name and address, but no email, phone #, price of item, or credit card info. This is good, as I didn't order a box of mechanical pencils and have never heard of Overstock.com.

I'm thinking hard, so far with no glimmer of a notion, about why a random delivery of mechanical pencils would end up on my doorstep.

Can anyone think of a reason such a thing might occur?
No, it was for the OTHER emmline in the parallel universe...

.7 mm lead. Five for 1.29 or 3 bucks a dozen.
You must be poor and living in your parent's basement to buy junk like that. :o
And you must have way too much time on your hands to be dredging up five-month-old posts just so you could flip gonzo crap about his choice of pencil.

Ok. Fine. I didn't dredge this post up. Someone else did. But you might as well know. Those mechanical pencils are crapola. Really prone getting lead stuck in their little plastic esophagi. NOT recommended.
(now see if anyone 'fesses up.)

I was amazed to see this old thread dragged up again. I honestly thought there was gonna be an answer.

Don't ye find it a bit weird that nobody claimed the parcel..after all this time.

I put it down to a cyberglitch...

I've had a few books from a book club, I am not a member, pushed in the door. Got a few letters from debt collectors asking about payment for the books. Got on the phone and told them that the books are here, unopened, and they can come and get them anytime they like.

No response yet..and that was months ago.

I have no use for pencils, alas.

Needs a little tweaking. One in ten is excellent untweaked. But, some people think they all work fine the way they are.

http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/newspage.htm Officially, the government uses the term “flap,” describing it as “a condition, a situation or a state of being, of a group of persons, characterized by an advanced degree of confusion that has not quite reached panic proportions.”

Some day the writing public will be able to get the Jerry Freeman Tweaked Papermate Sharpwriter -- mellower tome, doesn't buzz and won't clog. In the meantime, we must make do with what we have.

gonzo buys them because he can afford to lose a dozen and not be out more than three bucks.

I don't like mechanical pencils. It's Ticonderoga Blacks for me. Nothing better.

Truth be known, I don't use those things very often, just for marking wood out in the garage, which is why they tend to get lost (or worse). The little gonzos, however, go through a ton of them.

I use pens, and lately, I've been using these --

You know, I hate to run down where I live but I think Iowa is just about a darned wilderness area. I've never seen anything like those disposable fountain pens in my life. And the colors of ink you can choose from! And no Staedtler pencils either. I know I can order them on the Internet, but sometimes it would be fun to see something modern in the stores for a change. Grrr!
