Which of these word pairs is pronounced the same?

I have trouble telling these apart, but perhaps I'm homophonic.

There are all different sounding to me except for herd and heard, and even then there's just a bit of subtle but real difference.

In my Linguistics class, I was the only one who pronounced a difference between "cot" and "caught."

Geee.....

I've never heard stir and steer pronounced the same.
All the rest, yeah, lots of folks around here say them the same.
I say ain't and ant and aunt the same.

Nothing smells worse than in the auto junkyard, when they have a "tar far". (This coming from a former New Englander, now living in the North Carolina).

Of course, in New York I hoid a story about a hoid of wild grizzly bears. Very scary.

I'd like to know what pronunciation guide you get that from. I looked in two dictionaries and they're indentical.

I have more dictionaries but I'm lazy.
