Moment of Silence
On a recent trip to Napa, I purchased a bottle of a very rare Chandon Rose Brandy. I was hoping to share it with my friends on New Years Eve - and enjoy what was left on special occasions later on.
Here it is (on the right) among a few other wines I purchased in Napa:
This Brandy was a one time run. The still wine manager that championed the distillation is no longer with Domaine Chandon. You can only get the Brandy at the winery, and only one bottle per guest. It's really very nice, almost like a bright Cognac - with something fresh or floral in the experience.
This evening, while I was arranging things for the New Year's celebration, the bottle fell from the cabinet.
Here it is this evening:
The only good thing I can say about this is - I'm a pretty good cook, but my kitchen has never smelled so good.
Darn!
Darn, darn, darn!

Some tragedies have a terrible magnificence to them. This would be one. It's only right that the shards had a private, otherwise unoccupied bag for their repose. The double-bagging shows refined good taste, too. Good on you despite your galling loss.

The Clos du Val is safely in the cellar, probably to be opened on New Years Eve. Usually I'm a Zin guy, but the 2003 Cab from Clos du Val is quite impressive.fel bautista wrote:But did the Clos du Val share the same fate?? One of my favorite wineries in the valley.
I recently tried a couple 2005 Zins from Sonoma County - now I want a bigger cellar.
My next trip up there will probably be to Sonoma - being a Zin fan. But maybe I can drop by Domaine Chandon - if the Brandy is not sold out.Whistlin'Dixie wrote: Aaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuurrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But hey, now you'll have to go back there!
