Tell us something.: From the land beyond beyond. From the time past hope and fear. I bid you, Genie, now appear! Well, the Genie did not appear but the notification to type at least 100 characters did so I am back and typing some more as you, if anyone actually sees this, can probably tell.

Maynard Ferguson used to live on the hill above me when I was in another part of town years ago and I could hear him practice. :swear:

I love the trumpet but couldn't stand the way he forced it into the stratospheric range.

Thanks for the antidote, Dubhlinn.

Give me Miles any day!

God. I'd forgotten how much of a chore it is to listen to Maynard Ferguson.
He's the Russ Meyer of the trumpet in that way, isn't he. ;)

Perhaps this is easier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srDfpziUewE
I agree with Congratulations... Ferguson was borderline painful!

You're very welcome. Actually, that one was easy. That was one of those rare cases where the entire album (City to City) was excellent. :)

I'm a devoted fan who has everything she's ever recorded. If I had to pick just one song as my all time favourite fron anybody it would probably be "Amelia" from Hejira.

An absolute masterpiece on so many different levels.

Many of the YouTube videos are ripped from licensed sources (MTV, VH-1, TV) and... according to YouTube's rules get deleted for violation of their policy.

So... enjoy them while you can, because tomorrow, they may be gone!
There's always a chance they will get ripped again and reappear at another time, but you cannot count on it.

Hi there Michael,

Your post as left a few of us wondering 'bout things.

I hope all is well over there but if you would care to share anything with us it would be very much appreciated.

Slan,
D.
We lost Will this spring to the illness that he told us about. I am saddened. He was a good guy. I wish his family strength, courage and peace, and good memories. He is missed on these boards for sure.
