angry music

What's your favorite angry music?

Irish or not, doesn't matter.

Probably Alanis. None of her new stuff compares to the angry stuff she wrote on her first album.

My daughter likes Three Days Grace, but I find them to be totally intolerable. Too angry for my liking.

I don't really think of Irish tunes as "angry," though some are certainly "fiery" or "intense."

Classical music, on the other hand.....

Almost everything sacred J.S. Bach ever wrote for choir, organ, or various combinations thereof....yeah, a lot of it sounds blisteringly angry.

Ah...if you're going to talk about classical, Beethoven did a lot of "angry" type stuff too. I've always thought that his 5th Symphony sounded very angry. But then you have his "Ode to Joy" from the 9th Symphny, so at least you knew that he wasn't a very angry individual on a regular basis ;)

Archie Shepp's Fire Music. Shepp fans will insist that it also has a lyrical side. I agree, but the casual listener probably won't detect this.

Black Sabbath -- the early stuff with Ozzie.

T-Bone Walker -- if you can find "I'm n an awful mood" that's about the angriest song I've ever heard.

I agree with the early Alanis stuff. Great and very angry.

But favorite angry? What immediately comes to mind is Metallica, specifically" One" .

I like Dick Gaughan's Crooked Jack. It's smokin' mad and bitter.

Oh, absolutely.

Some music is just angry. This song isn't. Neither is Shepp.

Pearl Jam Porch. Raw. As angry as music an get without sucking.

James Blunt's No Bravery is plenty pi$$ed off, but the lyric is a little pale. I hear he does it better live.

Shostakovich has some wonderful frantic angry bits. I love how he makes the contrabasses saw away like they're trying to light fires, or amputate legs.

D. Buchwich (sp!) Symphony #1 - Dresden does violence very well.

Taiko drumming.

Early Spirit of the West.

Nine Inch Nails

Gorsh, where to begin?

I guess Subhumans 1984 album "The Day the Country Died" would rank pretty high up there.

Subvert City comes to mind in particular.
