And she's what, 17? If I could play Ennis as well as she plays SRV, I'd be rather pleased with myself to tell you the truth.dfernandez77 wrote:Over the Corrs - yeah. But not for quality.
She does a credible job of playing SRV's interpretation. It's quite interesting. I doubt she could play a lick of improvised rock guitar though.
Who's "Little Wing" was the best?

Stevie Ray does a lovely version but I never really cared for Claptons attempt.
I can remember quite clearly the first time I heard Hendrix playing it, must have been thirty years ago now. I just sat there staring at the speakers thinking "Oh, my goodness! What in the world? is this..." One of the most passionate and soulful pieces in the electric guitar repetoire
Nobody wil ever improve on Hendrixs version..how could they?
Slan,

Me too. I didn't even look at who the other choices were- as soon as I saw the post title I knew.
Hendrix- there's no question even-

SRV.
The glock in Jimi's version irritates me, the sax in Clapton's cover is disruptive, and the G3 version is guitarreah. Picky, eh?
I even love the recording gremlins in SRV's version - he's got a bad switch in his amp, and there's a ground-hum that acts as a drone.

I just found this version:
Ron Baggerman playing a modified Chapman Stick doing a jazz arrangement of Little Wing (groan)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugov-DkM ... ed&search=
it's is 3 parts, this is part 1 (I couldn't stomach to watch all the parts...)

Um... welll... seems I managed to delete something important... like that I haven't yet gotten to hear Stevie Ray Vaughn's version... makes a bit of a diff... so my choice was between the other two...anniemcu wrote:Eric Clapton, with Derek and the Dominos.
Maybe...
... didn't Hendrix write it?

I love Clapton and SRV's version was great, but it's Hendrix! Three guys (lead, bass, drums) straight from the gut (Hendrix's gut).
The Corrs are beautiful.
Justine, Justine, Justine...a song only guys like? Maybe that's why there are no really hot (playing) female guitar or sax players; at least I've never known of any, which is hardly dispositive. Is it a cultural thing or something else? I mean there are wonderful female fiddlers and flutists...I know I'll draw fire here...

I don't really like what she plays (David Sandborn meets North Texas State), but I wouldn't kick her outa bed.
