I got the first vote in for Hendrix before I went to work. Didn't even have to think about it.
Stevie Ray does a lovely version but I never really cared for Claptons attempt.

I can remember quite clearly the first time I heard Hendrix playing it, must have been thirty years ago now. I just sat there staring at the speakers thinking "Oh, my goodness! What in the world? is this..." One of the most passionate and soulful pieces in the electric guitar repetoire

Nobody wil ever improve on Hendrixs version..how could they?

Slan,
D. :)
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

Wouldn't that be something to see and hear. I almost got chills just thinking about it.

While we're at it, does anyone have a link to a video of Hendrix doing an acoustic version of Like A Rolling Stone? I caught it on MTV once and it's one of the most awesome things I ever heard him do. No pyrotechnics to get in the way of Dylan's tune and lyrics-- just some amazingly sensitive acoustic guitar work, and Jimi's haunting voice. Still gives me the shivvers, and I'd love to see it again.

Song facts says this about Little Wing:

This was inspired by the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, a concert held during 3 days of the "Summer of Love" (1967) featuring The Who, The Byrds, Janis Joplin, and many others. Attended by about 200,000 music fans, it happened 2 years before Woodstock. Jimi wrote about the atmosphere at the festival as if it was a girl. He described the feeling as "Everybody really flying and in a nice mood." He named it "Little Wing" because he thought it could just fly away.

I hate every version of this song. Isn't it one of those songs that only men like?

Sorry,

Wow!

I never saw that coming. But I can't say I'm not amused. :D

Well, yeah. But they had better drugs back then.

That would be a LBW, wouldn't it?

I prefer the Korean girl :)

Ah, that's the one. I hadn't ever seen a non-tweaked Waltons.
The shape of the mouthpiece seemed odd.

Sorry, here's the G3 version:

It's actually not too bad, apart from Malmsteen. They should have done this song when Eric Johnson was on the tour.

Sorry dude, but this is not a song that can be played sitting down, that's just plain wrong. She's not even making any torutured "faces". Disgraceful attempt.

Oh Yeah, and her ears aren't bleeding, so clearly there are not enough Marshall amps and the volume isn't nearly high enough.

Over the Corrs - yeah. But not for quality.

She does a credible job of playing SRV's interpretation. It's quite interesting. I doubt she could play a lick of improvised rock guitar though.
