An impressive bit of machinary to say the least, but what does it have to do with astronomy?

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Looks like they made a dirt ramp to protect the road.

having two sons, I always said the best birthday party would be a load of topsoil and rent a bob-cat.

Bucket wheel excavators -- another fine product from ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Technologies AG, the same people who brought you World Wars I and II and 400 years of European mischief.

They are apparently very good at making big, long things that tear crap up, as with this other fine Krupp products --Image

Interested in buying a bucket-wheel excavator? Check out their brochure.

Yes, it's ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik for a full line of excavation equipment.

I can testify to the truth of that statement.

Had 3 loads of topsoil brought in to build up a low-lying yard a few years ago. The neighborhood kids were over within the halfhour--we were the most popular house for a 3 block radius for the next 2 weeks...

...at least with the kids...dunno how popular with the moms who had to strip their young'uns at the door!

That thing has control rooms bigger that most peoples’ houses all over it. Do they have to send in law enforcement officers periodically to chase off the squatters?
