FS: Burns Bb Flute

Post by Loren »

Casey Burns Bb, All Mopane wood flute for sale. Looks beautiful, lovely sound. The flute is in like new condition - it's hardly been used due to my on-going tendonitis problems.

According to Casey's website, the current price for this particular model is $700. plus $16 for shipping. I'm asking $600. plus $15 for USPS Priority Mail shipping to the ConUS.

Please contact me via my email address listed below, rather than PM. Thanks.

Sometimes I really hate myself for being a lefty.

Is this one of Casey's super-ergo flutes? Or are the offsets minimal?

I'd say the offsets are moderate: The 3rd and 6th hole are offset, but not radically (which I hate), seems just enough for this size flute.

I'll try to get a photo up tomorrow, if the flute hasn't sold by then.

I had an opportunity to try one of Casey's Bb flutes recently (the one owned by Kelly, aka seisflutes, who is a really fine flute player by the way) and was amazed at how great it sounded -- the tone was rich and huge, and the whole flute vibrated when you hit the lowest notes. It felt alive in my hands. The sound of that flute compared very favorably with my Wilkes Bb and the other Bb flutes I've tried (e.g. Lehart, Aebi, Olwell).

Dang it, ...tendonitis is really bugging me! (too) Guess I better stick to D flutes with an easy stretch! (edited because I can, and usually don't sing my replies)

Darn good price, Loren, it'll be gone in a flash.

Thanks guys.

Here a photo of the flute- doesn't quite do the flute justice, but gives a reasonable idea:

That's exactly how I'd describe it. As long as you don't approach playing it as though it's just a big D flute, there's a really rich warmth to it. And the way the low notes almost shake your bones is incredible.

My apologies to those who emailed me regarding the flute but haven't heard back yet: We had a local power outage early yesterday evening, so I've been without internet access for a while. I'm working on getting back to folks now, thanks for your patience.
