Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

What a delightfully irrational (and transcendental) way to start the day! Thank you, Walden!

Tell us something.: You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Just kidding, I'm well aware that Carol's Avatar is the famous picture of Beryl Markham  For those of you who haven't read West with the Night, you absolutely must, really.

Very definitely, and in the early days of this thread, she PM'd me to say I'm a cutie-pie, so that makes her a sweetie-pie, too. 8)

Oh geez...my husband gets very sensitive, even about things that happened before we met.

Let me state, for the record, that the contact you, Brassblower, are describing was not of a romantic nature.

That out of the way, thanks for calling me a sweetie pie.

I've admired that one myself. I'm sure it's been done before, but it would be interesting to know the stories behind some of the avatars...

...and let me also affirm that the contact was indeed in the spirit of the current thread, and worded in such a way as to avoid any romantic overtones.

In fact, when I showed your PM to Mrs. Brass, here was her reaction:

Well, there was this nuclear explosion you see, which woke Godzilla up from his nap at the bottom of the ocean......

Oh, I guess you probably didn't mean you were interested in my avatar....er, never mind then.

Today WAS a good day for outdoors. Here's my cutie-pie grandaughter- we went through a corn maze today and she had a great time- although she kept calling it a cornfield, typical farm kid- road an antique tractor pulled flatbed with hay for seating up the hill to the maze then spent about an hour in there till we finally made it out-
