Great stuff.

Back in the sixties, when we'd see stuff like that on TV (there was lots of it) we'd always cringe.

It makes me wonder what you consider the recording that has wandered the furthest from it's roots in an effort of create someone's vision of safe mainstream music.

Years ago, when cds first became widely available, I saw an ad (TV?) for a Willie Nelson's greatest hits. I bought it. It was 2 cds and most of the songs from his Red-Headed Stranger period. Someone had added 1001 strings. Very weird

To cross post.... "Arrrrgh!" Something is just so wrong about that rendition.

Well... that takes care of being hungry... yug!

It's kind of like the recent (a year or two past) use of a great social commentary song's tune for an auto ad... absolutely contradictory to the original intent of the song... I'll think of it ... shortly... eventually.... maybe... but it was jaw-dropping to hear that melody in use for such a consumption oriented product.

Except for the "great social commentary song" part, I thought you
may have meant Jewel's tongue-in-cheek anti-consumerism song
"Intuition" being used in a commercial for a razor by the same name...
I thought that was funny.

Wow! This video is like a fast forward a couple decades to what my life will be like when my kids put me in a convalescent home.
Once a month children like these young ladies will be brought in to entertain us with what they think was the music of our youth

and we'll just sit there with the facial expression of a stunned monkey on our faces.
