They have mountains in AL (as in "Mountain Brook")? See, I learned something new today.

Good to hear things are going well so far. Wishing you continued success.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

Most people think of Alabama as flat. The northern half of the state is quite hilly and there are some actual mountains. Birmingham and the surrounding area is quite hilly. Most visitors find it a surprisingly attractive city.

Here in Houston, we wouldn't have hills at all if it weren't for the fire ants...
At the end of it all, I want to be told "Well done". I don't want to _be_ well done!

Freakin' Fire Ants...... They're all over Florida as well, guess they like the flatlands  Too cold for 'em up here in Boston, thank goodness, I don't miss having those suckers chomping on me.

Yo, D. Man, what up Dawg? Glad to hear the new gig is workin' out for ya, change is good, eh?

Sounds like you're going to need to acquire more interns.

Man, Dale. I leave for a while and you go and make Nano a moderator?!?!?! Clearly you were going through a mid-life crisis... glad to see that you're settling into your new job and I hope that the crisis is over :)

Best,

Hope your wonderful sounding job never becomes "just a job." Glad to hear you're both fulfilled and contributing mightily. Things are hectic here as well; got back from Ireland and we're now packing up my daughter for college - she leaves Mon. Wierd feelings, man...

Yes the moderators are apparently doing well, but perhaps if you ever get some spare time you could have them recall the two whistle policemen stationed at my door and computer, respectively. :)

Best regards,

Philo

I thought of you yesterday, Dale, when my daughter and I went hiking up to Cliff Lake, an isolated little lake in the Uintah mountains--an elevation sign a bit later said we were at 10,300 feet. Absolutely gorgeous in spite of being chilly and cloudy, with a few showers.

Why Dale, what a cute photo of you on the web homepage! I always imagined you as looking older, but I guess when you're a whistle magnate, you can afford to look younger.

Congrats on your switch... I hope you find teaching to be as fulfilling as many others do.
