News from Boisvert Headquarters:
Let me begin by thanking the majority of my customers for their patience and understanding. Events and circumstances of the past year have formed somewhat of a "perfect storm" of troubles for me and my family. The end result is that I am behind on my orders and facing carpal tunnel surgery in both hands within the next few weeks. Apprently I have a rather severe case. Fortunately I have a fine surgeon and supportive specialist from them Mayo clinic in Rochester. As such, the predicted outcome is shiny.
Given these circumstances, I am making it publicly known that my order books are TEMPORARILY closed. They will re-open once I've gotten caught up on back orders and have recovered from my surgeries. Let me clarify by stating unequivocably that I am NOT finished making pipes and all confirmed orders will be completed in as timely manner as possible.
If you have a concern or question, please direct them to myself or my wife through my email (not PM) or my home phone number. These are both listed CLEARLY on my webpage. Please be patient. I am not online 24 hours a day and many days can pass before I have access to my computer. As there are only so many hours in a given day, I am simply not able to reply as quickly as some might like.
God Bless,
David

Sorry to hear that David. Hope the surgery goes well. I had my right hand done a couple years ago and it healed up nicely, still bothers me a little because I'm on a computer most of the day but its better than it was.
I had an Endoscopic Release, and at the same time my brother had both hands done as well and both of his are just fine now...
No worries, you'll come out with two brand new hands...

David,
Very sorry to hear your carpal tunnel syndrome is serious enough to require surgery, but it is good to hear you are receiving treatment at a Clinic as world renowned as the Mayo Clinic.
Concentrate on recovery and don't let the stresses of business or orders hamper your recovery.

The way to go
Davey,
This has got to be hard to deal with. Remember that personal communication with customers is the way to go - more than the forum. Keep them in step with where you are with their orders - will minimize their anxieties and keep you in business good stead with them and keep them from losing their manners or turning their experiences into the stuff of pipe horror folklore.
Auto-mail reply or note to C & F might not do as well as a phone call here and there.
No businessman will accept a customer's plight as payment for what they are selling and so it is no wonder it difficult sell the other way around.
Show care in keeping your clients in the loop and undoubtly they will respond.
May these tough times pass, the operation be a success and the lighter times come round again soon.
