Backstitching

Post by Ciotog »

Hello,
Would someone kindly give me an explanation of backstitching?
I inadvertantly asked this question on the wrong forum and got replies regarding needles and thread - ho, ho, ho.
Is it a form of ornamentation that can be thrown in to impress fiddlers, box-players and other lesser mortals?
Thanks

Backstitching......

And from Pat D'Arcy's website: Uilleannobsession:

http://www.uilleannobsession.com/faq.html#backstitch

If you scroll to the top of the page, other techniques are explained very nicely.

These last are the best explainations of technique I have come across yet. Go D'Arcy!

Try and listen to Mikie Smyth, he's one of the finest exponents of backstitching... he got it from Andy Conroy notably.

There is also a very good explanation on Mick Coyne's tutor website

uilleannpipestutor.com

I think it's in the intermediate section.

Not "Da" - "Dag", as in "D'ya like dags?"
