It's done.

Carried away on the wind this breezy eve

Amazing Grace

I was alone with my whistle but I know they heard

Amazing Grace

We will never forget the heros' cry "Let's Roll"

Amazing Grace

Innocents taken away far too soon

Amazing Grace

Heal our sorrows and weeping hearts and give us

Amazing Grace

From Evanston, Illinois

I played Amazing Grace on my front porch at 6 pm, when a handful of neighbors just happened to be coming home from work or a stroll with their babies. They stopped to listen and sing along. I told them what whistlers across the country--and beyond--were doing, and we all felt connected: to each other, to all of you, and to all who grieve.

And from our small village in Scotland we remembered you as well. I didn't play amazing grace because I had played it on the whistle at my mother's funeral in January and feelings are still raw. Instead I played a tune I have recently discovered which has the capacity to lift my heart and make sense of life. It's called The Otters Holt. Peace be with you all.

It was done in northern Ohio with my American flag next to me, flowing in the soft breeze.

Yup, sitting under the olive-tree in the front yard. No-one was nearby, but there were some folks out and about a half-block away who were probably wondering who was playing the sewer-pipe. (I played my Chieftain Gold Low-D.)

Decided I didn't just want to play one tune, so I followed it up with "Flowers of the Forest".

I whistled out in front of the Lowell Park Nature Center facing the Flag at half mast. 3 guitars played along. It was over all too soon. We did go on in and practice after that. My thanks to all who joined this chain. Let's make it an annual affair! Gm

I played too - stuck in traffic trying to get home to my porch - but decided to just play at 6 p.m. in my car and thanks to the traffic I didn't have to worry about hitting anyone : )
I'm a newbie - but I had to post for the first time today because this idea of Grannymouse's was so wonderful and inspiring that I had to join in.
Thanks,
Nancy
