That's a pretty respectable age for a little ball of adrenalin.

I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

Not too shabby. But these little guys tend to live a bit longer than their bigger cousins.

I have always wanted a Jack, but they really are a handful. Bull Terriers are very, very high energy dogs, but Jack Russels make them look sedate by comparrison. :D

Jacks need a job to do, to keep them focused.

Little guys can, indeed, live a much longer life than their bigger cousins. My Cedar (15-pound miniature poodle) was 18 1/2 when he died! And I have a friend whose small mixed breed lived to be 21.

I have a friend in Duluth MN, whose JR "Rusty", lived to be 20 Years old. And up until the end was still thinking he could catch (and trying) them thar squirrels.

A couple of years ago we had a Jack Russell for exactly 24 hours. We took him for a four mile run and when we reached home he was still bouncing off the walls. He was into EVERYTHING and had my daughter sobbing, "He won't STOP!" We returned him to the breeder the next morning. Cute dogs but...there are high energy dogs and then there are Jack Russells.

There was a TV ad a while ago (I can't even remember what it was for) that showed this Jack bouncing through his day (at one point they even show him appearing and disappearing through a car's skylight as the car goes down the road. At the end, the owner says "the vet says he'll probably calm down in about 15 years" or something to that effect.

Yep...they're terriers at their most basic. They're full of energy, and live for the hunt. Cute as they are, I really don't recommend them as family pets, unless you have a perpetually rat-infested house or an agility course in your back yard.

16 x 7 = 112

Also, here are some random pictures of Jack Russell Terrier puppies from Google Images, proving that JRs are the cutest dogs in the world:

Despite the fact that they eat rats, I love them.

It's quite interesting to see photos of Jack Russells NOT actually humping someone's leg. Here's me, thinking that that was their sole function.
"Last night, among his fellow roughs,
He jested, quaff'd and swore."

They cut me down and I leapt up high
I am the life that'll never, never die.
I'll live in you if you'll live in me -
I am the lord of the dance, said he!

That's an awful lot of wee-wee for such a tiny dog. :D
