No resemblance really except in that photo as you can see in the later photo with the Marsh boys. At 6'2" 220 lbs he towered over us. (my mom's only 5'2").

Dale,
Nice to see other kids were stuck with those burr hair cuts. In our family it was because home clippers came and it was economics as much as style.

I had one of those cuts too though in our area we called it a 'butch'.
Nice during those hot humid Ohio Summers.

Gosh, Tony, the work you did on that photo on your website sure looks nice. That's pretty amazing how the fold lines, which were so distracting, are gone.

I'm really enjoying everybody's photos. Every single one has something so sweet or funny or remarkable about it. :)

Thanks Cynth!

I usually do simple corrections or restorations (replace missing teeth, lighten or darken images) cropping or resizing images to fit special frames.

There is a story behind that picture. (isn't there always?)
I copied the picture from an Australian guy's home page. He was separated from his wife shortly after the baby was born. Mysteriously, the baby died before her first birthday and the father only had that one picture of his child.

Obviously the picture had been folded... probably carried in his wallet for a while before he scanned it and placed it in the memory page for the little girl.

I repaired it and e-mailed the newer image to him. The next day I received a long thankyou message from the guy and later that day he replaced it old image on the website.
It's not my best work but the story behind it makes it my favorite.

Another restoration that scored some points... was for a Cuban woman I once dated. Her parents were still living in Cuba and she hadn't seen them in many years. She had a portrait of her parents wedding that was torn near the top and extended across her father's suit. It was mounted in a glass frame that partly stuck to the image. Removing it to place on a scanner surely would have destroyed the picture. I was able to take a high resolution photo with my digital camera and made the restoration to that.

Hi Tony,
Yes I have a larger scan of the pic.

And yes I too have story on it. As you can see in the lower right corner it says prize photo 1956 L&M Studios.
When my mom had my picture taken she wasn't shown this one. Several years later a photography studio opened up down the street from our house and my sister came home and said my picture was in the window!
My mom didn't beleive her so we walked down and sure enough there I was! We went in and the insant he saw us he ran to the window and gave us the picture. (I am guessing he was afraid my mom was going to sue him or something) Which would have never been the case. Anyways, I guess you could say that was my 15 minutes of fame.

As for restoring it I'd love to have it restored. What would I have to do and what would be the cost?

I'll be out all day. Check you PM's I'll give you my e-mail address. Send me the image.
I'm just going to fix the tears and cracks, not a total restoration.
It's a hobby for me... there isn't a cost.
