White peaches

Post by Jack »

Anybody here ever eaten a white peach?

Today my boss gave me one. I haven't bitten into it yet because it's not completely ripe, but it has one of the sweetest, most capturing, most fragrant scents I've ever smelled.

It looks like this:

I've never had a white peach before. I think it's lovely.

Putting it near an apple will speed up the process, as well.

Especially if it's a bruised apple ;)

For an extra special treat, try a donut peach.

It has white flesh, too, and is full of sugar and juice. It will run down your chin if you are not careful.

On the goodness scale, they rate out at right up there with freshly picked sweet corn slathered with real butter.

Every year around Christmas time (southern hemisphere) I go to my favourite organic peach orchard and get me 2 boxes of white peaches, large, juicy and sweet as honey.

The first time I ever ate a white peach was directly from the branch in a civic park in Victoria. It was about early December of 1971. It was quite memorable, believe me.

YOu can sometimes find white nectarines too and they're excellent-- a very perfumed aroma.

Every time someone mentions nectarines, I think of the 2000 Year Old Man.
