Do you have any idea how old she would have been when the photo was taken?

That was my fault. I got off on one of my tangents again. Sorry.

I don't go into these things with the intent of hijacking. I will watch it in the future.

I wish I could have seen what Peeplj wrote though.

Well, you need to check the board every 3 minutes during the day time and constantly from 10:00pm-7:00am, as Walden and I do! :)

I could venture a guess. I could post a second photo of her with her children, and let you make a guess based on comparison, and the children's year of birth, compared with hers. But it would still be just speculation.

She was probably very tiny. Judging by the size of the stairs in many of the same era houses, she was probably the size of an average 10 year old today. Ive been in many of these houses here in Deadwood, and the steps are so tiny, it feels like a doll's house. I have trouble going up and down, but today's kids don't! The steps are way to small for me. Most Victorian homes that have lasted, have remodled the inside and ripped out the old stairs!

Heres a photo of my great grandmother who was also of the same era. She was born in 1856,llived in the mountains of western NC, widdowed twice, bore nine children. Her father was wounded at Chattnooga during the Civil War. He walked all the way back home to NC and later died of his wounds.

And here's my grandaddy(her son) and grandmother taken in1920.

I love old pictures. We found a whole box of my husband's family pictures when we moved in our house. Unfortunately, no one knows who the really old ones are. Many of the women had on clothing similar to Walden's photo.
