Who has the best broccoli recipe?
Wow, I just ate a spinach salad and I feel healthy. I'm getting ready to steam a little broccoli, but broccoli is so boring!! I ate at Applebee's a few days ago and their broccoli was actually pretty good, but I could not tell what they had used to season it. (they may have dropped it on the floor and then put it in a mop-bucket for all I know)

Heat olive oil in a wok. Add 2-3 cloves chopped garlic. After 30 seconds (and before garlic browns, add moist, washed broccoli. Toss. Add soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and a dash of salt. Stir fry until not quite tender. In the mean time mix cold water with 1 tblsp cornstarch. Add, stir, bring to boil, serve immediately over rice.
Variation: add sliced carrots or red bell pepers.

Roast vegetables:
Crush a teaspoonful of coriander seed in a pestle & mortar, or similar.
Clean and chop some broccoli and some cauliflower and place on a baking tray. Sprinkle the vegetables with the crushed coriander.
Then peel two or three or four or five cloves of garlic, add some salt and crush this in the mortar. Add a little olive oil. Ideally you can use your hands to coat the vegetables with the garlic/salt/oil, or if you are finicky, use a pastry-brush or an asperger. (The danger is the temptation to eat your own fingers.)
Stick them in the oven on regulo 6 for twenty minutes. (that's about 200 degrees C.) Serve with potato wedges, or Bircher potatoes, or damn near anything.

Thanks Bloomie and I.B. Your ideas sound pretty good.
The board was really slow while I was cooking, I was unable to retrieve your suggestions... Next time though I'll be ready.
This time I simply steamed and added salt and butter, it was not bad.
The trick in steaming broccoli is to get it just the right amount of "doneness", too mushy is bad, really bad, too raw is not good either.
MMMM, here's a photo of chicken puffed pastry with broccoli. I think it it looks pretty good!
