Seems to help me a good bid while playing. There might be some subconscious coordination between hands&feet or whatever, it works for me

Barefoot is good when you are on a concrete or sturdy tile floor because you get a much more satisfying slap noise when tapping your foot. Shoes (or sandals) are better if you are on a wood floor or stage or anything with a nice hollow boom to it.
