Undisputed Press Release
May 24, 2006, Birmingham News
The Mountain Brook, Alabama Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dale Wisely as its new Director of Student Services. Dr. Wisely is filling the position vacated by Gloria Anderson who is retiring after serving the Mountain Brook Schools for 28 years as a teacher, counselor, and most recently in Student Services.
Mountain Brook Superintendent Dr. Charles Mason observes, "Dale Wisely brings a wealth of knowledge, intellect, and experience to our school system which will enable us to build on the leadership of Gloria Anderson. He will lead our efforts in the areas of guidance and counseling, efforts to combat drug and alcohol use by students, and focusing resources to support students and parents who need assistance is addressing challenges that get in the way of success in school."
Dale Wisely, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who has practiced in Alabama since 1983. Dr. Wisely earned his Master's and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Memphis. He also earned a Master of Theological Studies degree from Spring Hill College in 1998. Dr. Wisely completed his clinical internship in psychology at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Charleston, West Virginia. After completion of his training, he accepted a visiting assistant professorship at the University of Alabama where he taught, supervised graduate students, and provided clinical services.
In 1983, he joined the Vaughan Clinic at Children's Hospital which later became Vaughan Psychiatric Services. He continued to practice at Children's until 1997 when he and colleagues founded Child & Adolescent Associates, P.C., in Vestavia Hills where he has practiced since. Dr. Wisely has had adjunct faculty appointments at UAB, the University of Alabama, and Spring Hill College. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Crisis Center and Catholic Social Services. He is President-Elect of the Alabama Psychological Association. He has twice received that organization's annual Outstanding Contributions to Psychology award. Dr. Wisely speaks extensively as a lecturer and workshop presenter in the area, and has contributed countless hours to the Mountain Brook Schools in recent years providing parent education sessions and professional development for the school system's counselors.

A tall man, well over four feet, his vulpine little eyes aglimmer with greed and lasciviousness, he has never once had formal charges filed against him, and colleagues who know him well, as well as some who know him only by his sordid reputation, regard him with only the highest suspicion, knowing him to be sporadically industrious, occasionally trustworthy, marginally honest, a fine American and a loyal family man.

Lest the academic community find out about Dr. Wisely's true proclivities in the area of Chiffiness, I will expect a monthly honorarium.

Just be sure to whistle in your office everyday, spend more time with kids than politicians, and spend as little time as possible thinking about the budget.
Congrats, Dale. I've got huge respect for anyone who takes on a job like yours. Your thousands of little bosses will be well served, I'm sure.

- Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.
