WhistleThis.com Launches...
I wanted to drop a quick announcement that Whistle This has been launched.
Whistle This is a whistle community website geared towards getting people young and old, new and experienced to learn more tunes, share their music and offer their advice to each other.
Every two weeks a new traditional tune is posted: sheet music, whistle (dot) notation and a sample MP3 clip are made available. You grab the music and take some time to learn the tune and to make it your own. Then, record the tune on your PC and upload it to Whistle This for others to hear.
Once your tune is up, other folks can listen to it, rate it and leave critique and advice -- all in real time. We have some whistle reviews, links and information for whistle makers and manufacturers, as well as some tutorial material. In addition, we also have a message board set up for you to ask advice for interpretation or technique with a particular tune, or to post sales information.
I'd like to thank Dale for giving his blessing and making this a Chiff and Fipple affiliated website and I hope that my goal, creating a resource for people to play and learn more, will be useful for you!
Regards,
Wynder

Mitch,
You bet! And, by the way, I do love your sites' layout -- very well-designed. I'll be honest, I started this project... last Tuesday so, not too bad for 6 days of work.
I really look forward to hearing other folks putting some of their tunes up and offering advice or thoughts on mine. I'm always so critical of myself, so it'll be nice to get other folks' opinions.
Regards,
Wynder/Rob

This is an excellent idea and a very well prepared site. I will be spending a lot of time in there.
Also thanks for the prompt to finish learning Silver Spear!

Great stuff, I'll happily contribute.
One suggestion, if its not a big deal, I'd remove the suggestion to only play A/B parts once since, at least in my case, generally there are subtle differences between first and second times through parts.
I guess I could just remove a part in editing.
Your timing is really great, I was thinking about recording tune set lesson videos and selling them for $5.00 on Google Video or iTunes where I'd go through tunes in fine detail, but seems you've beat me to the punch.
Of course, if anyone would be interested in such a thing, drop me a private message.
Cheers,
Michael

It's a suggestion to keep the filesizes down, but if folks are inclined to play both parts through twice, then more power to them!
Thanks kindly for your upload, BTW... it sounds great -- I'll leave feedback for it on the site.

Oddly enough, I was thinking of an idea today of making a site somewhat like this. Interesting... Good job!
