Gigs you're going to see...

Post by buddhu »

In September we're going to County Kerry for a couple of weeks, with one day in Dublin on the way over. While we're there we have booked to go and see Ronnie Drew, Paddy Reilly and Finbar Furey at the Gaeity.

In October we have booked to see The Dubliners in Aylesbury, UK.

This coming Thursday we are due to go and see Albert Lee, but I don't know details yet as a friend who occasionally plays onstage with Albert is organising the trip.

I'm hoping The Pogues will play Brixton again in December, as the last 2 years have been incredible.

What gigs do you lot have lined up?

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Looks like everyone's a bunch of stick-in-the-muds! Got the GNIPC tionól coming up for the weekend with Patrick D'Arcy and Jerry O'Sullivan in tow. There will be a concert, and I for one don't intend to miss it.

We've just gotten tickets to attend the local folk festival in July. Performers include Tony McManus, Back of the Moon, and groups from Congo, Cuba, Finland, etc. We're looking forward to it! I'm always impressed that a small entry price can land an entire weekend of good music. :)

I'm not seeing any. I have to see dozens of performances and speeches each year as a part of my college's convocation program (also due to the fact that I work there). That's enough.

And this makes me sad because when you come here I will be gone out of state (yeah I know I already told you that :P)!

Maybe next year...

I will see The Strokes, Korn, In Flames, The Cardigans, The Sounds, Los de Abajo, Sirqus Alfon, Bullet for my Valentine and a few others probably. Another great festival summer's coming up.
Not much on the IrTrad side though by the looks of it.

We'll be going to the Louisiana Swamp Romp at Wolf Trap in early June. Not sure who-all's there, but Marcia Ball is the headliner. Last time we saw her she was incredible, as is her latest album.

There's the gig with Paddy Canny and Brid O Donohue to look forward to but maybe that doesn't count.

Later in June though Tony Linnane will be playing in Glor with Noel Hill, Mick Conneelly and Brian McGrath. Linnane and Hill are essential music from my formative years so to speak. I saw them several times during the early 80s and their recording is etched in my musical memory. It will be great so to see them together again after all these years although I see them separately on occasion.
