Both of those are in the key of C. Not exactly ITM, Civil War, etc. Why would you want to play the fife when you play the whistle and flute?

I have played the Yamaha and found it’s embouchure frustrating. I have not played the other.

I was just about to post a similar question, though I don't have any choices named, just looking for a decent fife for Civil War era stuff.

The problem is that I don't have much to invest. Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated.

There's a guy in Rhode Island named Al Fontana, who makes very nice stripped-down fifes from various woods. He sells them on eBay cheap, and they're really pretty nice. I bought three: C, D, and E, (two in Sissoo wood, and one in teak). I paid under $70 for all three. Great guy too. Highly recommended.

Wow! Thanks for that! I wonder why he didn't come up under my search for fife on eBay??

It looks like Mr. Fontana has a good sense of humor as well as craftsmanship.

Look.
