Once I was in Birdland and a group rather pretentiously called Les Modes was playing. Pee Wee Marquette, the emcee, announced the group as Less Modz (with a long o). "Let's hear it for Les and the boys." The next set he said the name more or less correctly. I figured the band had straightened him out, possibly with threats or something. More recently I found that Pee Wee always did something like this unless he was paid off. As his name implies, Pee Wee was short. Lester Young called him "half a motherf#####.

I have been part of what we called "An acoustic duo" - you know the type - with my wife. We called ourselves (unoriginally) Chris and Diane.

I've always wanted to see the acoustic duo:

Sam and Ella.

I was flipping through radio stations in the car and hear that last song was by Throbbing Gristle. Toad the Wet Sprocket had some popularity around here a few years ago.

I'm concerned that this frivolity is somehow bad. Shouldn't we be worrying about things?

I'm worried that you're worrying about me might elevate my pride and I'll be struck down.

Not to worry. You've demonstrated a disregard for your pride time and again.
