My avatar is me sitting on a bench at the harbour in Larnaca, Cyprus in April 2005. Here I am in full.

"Last night, among his fellow roughs,
He jested, quaff'd and swore."

They cut me down and I leapt up high
I am the life that'll never, never die.
I'll live in you if you'll live in me -
I am the lord of the dance, said he!

I like football.

I was bored one day and doodled on MS Paint with my mouse for a few minutes.

I am not a very good artist.

Converting the .bmp file to .jpg (forum's size constraints) smudged the colours on the picture.

I was too lazy to find anything else to be my avatar.

I do not feel obliged to believe that that same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.

No explanation needed. Simply meditate on me with love and devotion and you will come to know me.

One of the patches on my fire department jacket, for high-angle rope rescue medical attendant. Some people never get over the Boy Scout badges thing.

Mine are just . . . me.

Some are actual photographs, such as the one where I'm wearing that cute pirate costume (AAARRRRR!). Others are self-portraits, like the one I drew waiting for that bus in Minnesota after that awful fleecing episode. (Thank goodness it's begun to grow back!)

Me, 14 hours into the Save the World Adventure Race...and still smiling.

Now it's me, and before it was a Waterhouse painting. Waterhouse is ever so cool and it went with my name. I just got bored with it, is all, and I thought this looked cool.

My avatar was for a short time of a photo that I took of the ocean on a day that I got some news. I changed it because that photo was too much to look at. The new one also fits the song title "Light on the Ocean" and is a happy, exuberant dolphin.

I have posted this before.

A friend of mine committed suicide after a long struggle with bipolar disorder. The day after I receive the news, I wrote the song in the space of a few minutes. Of the 100+ songs I've written, it is among my best.

I interpret the sequence of events as a message from my friend from the other side, that it is okay on the other side. My friend was raised Catholic, and that belief system condemns suicide. I performed the song at the memorial service and gave the surviving family a copy of the photograph. It gave them a measure of peace.

Light on the Ocean

Some days, its too heavy,
Some nights, its too dark
Some days, I want to fade away,
Some nights, I fall apart

My friend, dear friend, look out on the ocean,
My friend, dear friend, gaze upon the sea.
and you’ll see a light on the ocean,
and feel the calm of the waves,
when you see a light on the ocean,
you'll know everything's okay.

Some day, I’ll reach for heaven
Some night, I’ll touch the sky
Some days, you’ll remember
Some nights, you’ll wonder why

When you see a light on the ocean,
and feel the calm of the waves,
when you see a light on the ocean,
you'll know everything's okay.

Some days...
Some nights...
/ whistle solo /

When you see a light on the ocean,
When you feel the calm of the waves,
when you see a light on the ocean,
you'll know everything's okay.

Mine usually mean nothing. I can't decide on whether to keep an avatar forever or change it as the wind blows.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

I walk out the door, cross the street, go down the lane and this is what I see. The rainbow isn't there every day.
