Resikan flute

Post by Defiant »

Hi all.
I know this topic has been covered in details.... BUT:

someone wrote: "What is Picard's Air? Where would I hear it or see it in sheet music? "

and someone answered "here is an URL, you must use a finale viewer to see it..."

Here are my questions...
How do you see it, when its imposible to download a viewer?
Does anyone have the sheet music in D?

thanks

regards
Allan

if you view it in finale, no matter what key it's in, you'll be able to transpose to the key of d with the click of one button. i love finale. regular, i'll hand copy of piece of music in finale just to get it into a key that everyone likes. i wish i could afford the program that just lets me scan a piece of music to do this.

That tune, from the TNG episode "Inner Light," is played in A Mixolydian -- easily do-able with a D whistle; or, you can bring it down to D Mixolydian and half hole the natural C. Here's the basic strain from the tune: A B A d d e b a e b a g f# e d B...

new to music...

Post by Bridges-PdP »

Pardon my ignorance, I didn't have any music in my upbringing...I'm new to the whistle and music in general...but when I look at the music for it, it seems to have notes that are below the range of a soprano D whistle. I haven't looked at the whole piece, but the first three notes are below the lowest D of my whistle...aren't they? How does someone more proficient in music deal with this? Would choosing a whistle of a different key be the answer? or can you fudge the music a bit (I don't want to use the word transpose, I don't really understand what it means so 'fudge' will have to do)?

Eager to learn,

Here is a link to a company that produces CD's of Star Trek music. The link will take you right to the specific CD that has Picard's aire on it. It is entitled "Orchestral Suite from The Inner Light". It is number 8 on the CD and is a beautiful piece of music.

Tell us something.: I've been with Chiff and Fipple since shortly after I bought my first low D. I've learned loads from this community, and I intend to continue to learn and contribute. Many thanks to Dale and everyone who makes this site happen.

Edited to add that Finale Viewer is now called Finale Notepad and is a free download from here:

You need a browser plugin. What kind of browser do you have

If you are looking for the score for Innerlight, you can get it from http://www.musicnotes.com/.

You can see and hear the first part of it for free, but if you want to print it, it costs around $5 USD.

Hope this helps.

Dear "The Weekenders":
That's the funniest thing I've read at this forum. I'm still laughing, and my co-workers are starting to worry about me. Thank you.

Has any one seen the Daniel Bingamon lookalike Resikan "flute" on his website?

Fun idea and it has a major advantage over the TV version -- it can actually be played!
