2/26/05 King's Fold
02/26/05 Welcome to Keith Lane, who sends a melody, King's Fold (sounds a lot like Star of the County Down). (saved in misc) Keith has been playing whistle about a year.
http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/newspage.htm Officially, the government uses the term “flap,” describing it as “a condition, a situation or a state of being, of a group of persons, characterized by an advanced degree of confusion that has not quite reached panic proportions.”

- Tell us something.: Longtime member of Chiff and Fipple. I own/have owned more whistles than a person should, I think. But I’m not complaining.

With regard to the Kingsfold/Star of the County Down, it seems Kingsfold is where it is attributed to being from and then Star is the name of the song. I also think I remember reading that there is another name to the tune (even older and Irish).khl wrote:Thanks for posting this. Yes, Kingsfold and Star of the County Down are the same tune, only with variation and some 'inversion'. This one is based on Ralph Vaughan Williams' notation of the tune (and probably a variation of his notation).
Here are notes to Star of the County Down (Brown Colleen) on Wanderer's site:
