H'mmm, not all of us possess that sort of cultural association with this song.Lambchop wrote:And, here, the photograph of the singers perfectly expresses the contextual setting most of us associate with this song . . .

In the interests of total and exact quantifiable accuracy, perhaps I should rephrase this . . . and I notice now that it isn't a photograph, but a caricature, so I'll change that, as well . . .
"And, here, the caricature of the singers perfectly expresses the contextual setting which the author of the article, the caricaturist, and Lambchop, and--given the radically divergent life experiences of these three individuals, with the consequent expectation that this would indicate a more wide-spread cultural significance to this song--possibly a very large number of Americans exposed to the folk music scene in the 60's and 70's associate with this song. Your mileage may vary."

Ahh, much more descriptive...Lambchop wrote:"And, here, the caricature of the singers perfectly expresses the contextual setting which the author of the article, the caricaturist, and Lambchop, and--given the radically divergent life experiences of these three individuals, with the consequent expectation that this would indicate a more wide-spread cultural significance to this song--possibly a very large number of Americans exposed to the folk music scene in the 60's and 70's associate with this song. Cool! I'm always on the lookout for more siblings.
P. S. I'm pretty
sure the moderators are now trying to sort
things out; so we can go back to flutes if we wish.
Anyway, I know my own real family is kind of kooky, and my husband's family is over the top.
So come on, join me as we sing:

What do I see?
It looks like Michael.......
and...no....yes........yes, he's rowing the boat ashore!

Ol man chiffboard, dat ol man chiffboard,
It gets real OT and gets my goat(ee),
But Ol Man Chiffboard,
It jest keeps rollin along.
Sometimes it's Abells,
Sometimes it's Roses,
Sometimes it's Rumsfeld,
Sometimes it's Moses,
But OL Man Chiffboard,
It jest keeps rolling along.
You and me,
We cut and roll,
Blow dat fipple,
Close dat hole,
Oil dat bore,
Swab dat drool,
Then ya hear Mary Bergin
And feel like a fooooooooooo-
ooooooooooooll...
I get dizzy
And tired of blowin.
What we talk of next
God alone is knowin,
But Ol Man Chiffboard,
He jest keeps rollin along.
