Going Cold Turkey follows a group of heroin addicts as they attempt to kick their habit at a detox clinic. Across the week live programmes will chart the tough physical and psychological challenges faced by the patients on their first steps towards getting their lives back on track.
Presented by Krishnan Guru-Murthy and addiction specialist Dr John Marsden the series will highlight the realities of heroin addiction in terms of the effects on the lives of addicts, their families and friends, as well as the wider community."

Ive been following this for the past few nights. To say it is making a wee bit of a freak show of the three poor souls who it centres on is a bit of an understatement.
The Camera is with them there in the clinic, classic fly-on-the-wall style, showing everything from vomiting,Diaohrea, hallucinations, panic attacks etc..
It actually kicked off by showing them taking their final ever "fix"(hopefully), and then just went more over the top after that!

Maybe if it helps put others off taking heroin well and good, but i got the horrible feeling that reality tv has just gone too far in the name of entertainment!

Anybody else catch it?
Listen to me young fellow, what need is there for fish to sing when i can roar and bellow?

"Has reality TV gone too far?"

I think it's a little late to ask this question...

I watch TV to escape from reality for a few minutes, not watch other folks suffer or make idiots of themselves. (I can easily make an idiot of myself without needing their fine examples.)

Last night, the entire dokket of network TV consisted of RTV shows in head-to-head ratings races:

Dancing with the Stars
Skating with the Stars
Survivor
American Idol

And the ultimate reality show:

The Budweiser, Coca Cola, Cingular Wireless, Viagra, (and oh yeah) The Olympics.

TV sucks.

(But I still watch Idol. :) )

Not this one, but I just saw a sequel to Through A Blue Lens that deals with Meth. This one was not for kids - scared the $%^& out of me. 85% addiction rate? Thats a lot higher than crack for first-time users. Heroin is lower still.
Happily tooting when my dogs let me.
