Everybody has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film.

You didn't get much of a response, but thanks, I've bookmarked this for future consultation.

Gee. I missed this. Cool. I wish they had more detailed maps from the Russian front.
I'm no longer trying a new posting paradigm

Maybe they didn't feel any were necessary, since its all quiet on the western front.

I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

Interesting link, thanks for sharing it.

I understand that someone has recently discovered some Nazi fortifications along the Normandy coastline that were long forgotten, and had become overgrown in vines, etc.

I've just been (re)viewing the 'Band of Brothers' DVD this past week, and last night was watching the section of the series where the 506th PIR (101st Airborne) were surrounded at Bastogne.... wow, that map really adds to the story! God Bless those brave men for their sacrifice.

It is very interesting to look back at these events. My Italian-born wife asks me every now and then why USA-ns are still fighting World War II. It seems that WWII movies and documentaries are extremely popular on basic cable TV. She grew up in post-war Italy and says she would just as soon forget the whole thing.
