I'm so glad to know that it's not just MY computer that is so blasted slow in loading that page!
Honestly, I just can't use it at all. I have XP and my memory has just been upgraded to 512mb. As soon as I open the page the map freezes and stops me accessing any other open windows, and I can only get out with the three-finger salute. As a bonus, when I finally manage to throw the program into the river I also get dumped out of MSN. The vandal. Enjoy without me!

Steve, 512 MB is barely enough to run WinXP. You should have 1GB, and preferably 2 GB RAM. You have to wait for this map to start up. Your PC won't want to go anywhere until the setup finishes running. Give it a few minutes at least.

I'd rather be atop the foothills than beneath them.

Hmmm, is there any way the administrator can remove those of us who'd like to start over?
I'd kind of like to not be shouting out about my pseudo-fat turtle neck over and over and over and . . .
Oh, dear! Dale, I just needed the eye-rolling smiley again!
But Lamby, can't you remove yourself? It should say "Remove me" after your name. Or there are ways to change things aren't there. I'm not going back to look because I get into problems, but you should be able to start over.

Oh dear. I guess you just made Steve's day, djm. Steve, don't give it a few minutes. That's just too long. I saw your pin on the thread where Dale put some pictures of the map. It looked real nice. I saw mine too and I was very pleased. But I haven't tried going back to the real map again. We can live with that.

Umm, no. Not any more. I think the cookie got deleted, and I didn't register, so now I'm stuck.
That's what I get for making impulsive decisions! Sigh.

I was trying to get all the pins to show up yesterday, and at about the 450 mark I got a message saying something along the lines of "this page is running a script that will cause your computer to run slowly. If you continue to run this script the computer may become unstable. Do you want to disable the script for this page?" I said yes, then it wouldn't load any more pins.
I have 128 MB of RAM and an Intel Cerleron processor with a speed of 897 MHz, Windows XP, and dial-up access. I tend to blame any slow loading pages on the fact that I have dial-up. Like Steve said, everything else runs just fine, except this map page bogs down.
Surprisingly it works just fine for me.
What a great site. Seems like a good sidekick to the messageboard if people could get it to work. I've uploaded a bunch of pictures and stuff already, hope everyone else does the same. A C&F community!
