For some good fun, click on "sounds that annoy cats," turn your speakers all the way up, place your cat on your lap, and click on "most cats dislike the harmonica."

Just encourage the cat to stick to piano playing, like mine does.

They need to do one that does the opposite, software that interprets a cats random musings into literary (or musical) masterpieces. A lot of wealthy cat owners would pay big bucks for that. Celebrity cat books could be the next big thing...

I played each "cat-annoying sound" several times to be sure. My cat wasn't in the least bit phased, but it certainly confirmed my own dislike of free reed instruments. :D

...the resident lap warmer lifted her head and looked at me...kinda like...you've finally lost all sense.

Tell us something.: I've picked up the tinwhistle again after several years, and have recently purchased a Chieftain v5 from Kerry Whistles that I cannot wait to get (why can't we beam stuff yet, come on Captain Kirk, get me my Low D!)

I don't have a cat anymore, but I know from past experience that the harmonica (along with most other instruments, objects larger than he is, people, stationary objects) scares the bujaysus out of my chihuahua.

My sound was accidentally turned up I guess and the harmonica made me jump! My kitty on the floor didn't do anything though. I asked her if she disliked it and she just meowed. I know they hate the whistle though.

Yes, even whistling with the mouth is frowned upon. They would jump up on my lap and put a paw on my mouth or on the whistle to indicate, "Enough!"

Pipes, however, are something else entirely. With the drones going, the cats love to curl up under my chair. Maybe they get a buzz off it ...
