I should be getting the latest news tonight at the session tonight, though who's gonna lead it if Pat's not there I don't know.
The operations to pin the leg breaks seem to have been a success as was the one to repair the blood supply to the leg. They were hoping to get him into a walking frame today if all goes well as it helps prevent blood clots forming.
We've hatched a cunning plan to spring him from hospital early. We're going to smuggle his pipes in to him. He'll be out within the hour.
May the joy of music be ever thine.

Yes, but think of the legal problems when dealing with the fallout! The other patients may not appreciate it nearly as much.

Latest update.
I went to visit Pat last night. The wit and humour have survived intact. The operations were completely successful and there's even a chance he'll be home for Christmas. Luckily his wife is fully trained (the irresistable patient meets the immovable nurse).
Obviously he won't be dancing for a while but he'll still be able to play most of his instruments. His only musical problem is that one of the breaks is just above his right knee, just where the chanter goes so his pipes may be out of action for a while. (Hmm... if he's not using them...).
His family have rearranged his office area so he can work from home even more than he does at the moment and he'll only need a little uphill push of a couple of hundred yards to get to the Newmarket sessions.
BTW Pat sends his thanks for all the kind wishes.
May the joy of music be ever thine.

Sorry to hear about the crash - I seem to have missed this before, not been into Chiff for a while.

With bikers it always seems like when, not if, they end up in a bad smash.

Good karma for Wjndy's healing!

Although it still sounds pretty serious to me, I'm relieved to hear that he's making progress.

Now, he could always rest a concertina on the other knee.

No way. He already plays it better than me when he has a go on mine. He also plays melodeon, whistle (again better than me), harmonica, and always borrows a fiddle if Ashokan Farewell pops up in a session.
He also sings better than I do, as does the rest of the world. :D
