Good suggestion and that's exactly what I've been doing. I didn't want to mention it in my previous post because it's a one-time thing and if not done correctly the first time, it's goodbye mouthpiece! Because the cavity sometimes doesn't need to be filled completely (depending on the whistle/fipple, completely filling it can make it worse), what I do is first use sticky-tack until I get the playability I want, make a mental note of the amount in the cavity, then remove it and refill the cavity with epoxy to the same height as the sticky-tack. I recently did this to my Gen Eb that was having some transitional problems and it's now one sweet, clear, easy-playing whistle.

How about my beloved Paint Shop Pro, about five versions back. Everytime I try updating to a new version I keep going back to the old version.

hey, Dale, So how does placing a load of wax on the underside of my toilet cistern improve the sound of my whistles? (yes i know i sound CRAP!-and so was that joke!).

ah now i get it!! i've been staring at that diagram, trying to decipher it like an optical illusion, no matter how hard i look, it still seems to me that the wax is on the outside of the mouthpiece, and all this talk about sub cavities has made my head spin.. simple explaination: turn the whistle upside down, so that the tube is facing upwards, imagine some water's dripping into the tube, and where the water would accumulate (until it eventually overflows and spills out of the windway) , that's where we want to put the wax/putty , right?

If you can find sealing wax, which is formulated to have a considerably higher melting point (60 C / 140 F for consumer product; 93 C / 200 F for product used by banks), you'll have a removable filler that stays hard at room or even hot-car temperatures.
