Your favourite cookie is...
....mine is a Mallomar or at least one of the many I like.
It was the article in the New York Times yesterday that got my mouth watering for these ever so sweet cookies, which are only made between September and March and only in Canada, even though they were first made in New Jersy, and thoughtfully exported to the south.
A cookie base, with marshmallow on top then "enrobed" in chocolate, with them now coming with dark chocolate. Sometimes injected with a cherry filling or some other such jelly. I have been known to eat a whole box in one go.
Must go shopping after work tonight, must seek out the prize, must have.....

Is this the same as the MoonPie, sold in the southern US?MarkB wrote:A cookie base, with marshmallow on top then "enrobed" in chocolate
I am a Thoroughly Southern Dude, but I have never liked MoonPies...
I do enjoy (sparingly) those fudge-covered Oreos, though!

From the picture, it looks more like a Pinwheel than a Moon Pie.fearfaoin wrote:Is this the same as the MoonPie, sold in the southern US?MarkB wrote:A cookie base, with marshmallow on top then "enrobed" in chocolate

I can say definitively that there is a big difference between a Mallomar and a Moonpie, but I believe the ingredients are similar.fearfaoin wrote:Is this the same as the MoonPie, sold in the southern US?
My cookie of preference is assuredly the OATMEAL RAISIN. Those who dislike the oatmeal raisin don't deserve world citizenship.

My favorite is my mom's recipe for chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. (Those childhood memories are hard to trump.) A close second is a recipe for homemade chocolate cookies which my wife modified by adding dark chocolate (75% cocoa) chips and espresso powder. Zing!

So far I haven't seen a cookie that I wouldn't love to eat. A colleague of mine, looking over my shoulder suggested that I should be nationalistic in my pursuit and look for Whippets made in Montreal.
They're the same as Mallomars:
Oatmeal raison cookies are also top on my list, so are ginger snaps, shortbread cookies.

my mom is THE cookie baker. Her dining room table, which seats 12, is currently filled with all kinds of cookies that she gives for Christmas presents.
Some of her recipes are traditional German ones. My grandmother worked for a German baker and mom begged Henry for some of his recipes. In fact, when I talked to my mom last night, she was getting ready to roll out the Springerle dough (these have to sit out on a sheet of anise seed overnight - my dad used to hate that!). She usually makes Lebchuken and Peffernuse, too - along with lots of decorated cookies, chocolate chip, oatmeal, spritz - ah, you name it. I told her I wanted some patient drop cookies, too - the weather is good for them to "set" and puff right.
