Tucking away the Left hand Pinkie finger

Post by benwalker »

Just wondering who does this. I have had to start doing this as I have an F nat key and I keep catching my LH little finger on the end of the key and after a while it starts to get a bit sore.

Ben,
You have 2 choices. Both involve a saw and cheap whiskey......

I had much the same problem, so, instead of trying to work with my pinky, I simply ground the key down and reshaped the end of it so it was shorter sufficient enough to get it out of the way.

My pinkie tends not to flap back and forth like I have seen a lot of pipers do with the top hand.

Even before I developed Dupuytren's Contracture in the pinkie of my left hand, it tended to stay stationary.

Don't cut it off - it is a spare and may come in handy if you lose your index finger - just ask Liam Walsh.

Frankly, I don't see that it matters having my pinky flailing about.... but I wish people would stop bringing me cups of tea whenever it does so. :D
