Why is it flattened, Denny? Some kind of refraction phenomenon? It's another beautiful pic.

I think I'd be flattened too if I was trying to moon someone in Antarctica. :o

Last week, the nearly Full Moon set along the northern horizon - as seen from Davis Station, Antarctica. The squashed orange pumpkin shape just silhouettes the peak of a distant iceberg in this stunning view. The Moon's apparently squashed shape is due to atmospheric bending of light or refraction - an effect which is more severe closer to the horizon.

Beautiful colors in this one. It's almost impossible to believe this moon is far away.

That's so bizare seeing its northern pole aimed toward the ground, but from there, I suppose every direction pretty much is north. Wild! Great Pic
There's and old Irish saying that says pretty much anything you want it to.
