That brought back a few memories missy....a dulcimer playing hippy chick eh?

Slan,
D.
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes.

I've got it on vinyl somewhere. Time for a rootle through the collection I think.
May the joy of music be ever thine.

I remember when the record album (remember those?) came out and my Dad brought it home. We listened to it over and over and over and over and... :D

That is what we used to call a skip in the record, Joseph. At what point did your Mom come in, give the bunch of you a disgusted look of hopelessness, and nudge the arm over so that the record would end? :D

You mean "THE Thanksgiving song" isn't Over the River and Through the Woods?

I thought the Thanksgiving song was We Gather Together...which btw I played on the low D for my family.

Still, its been a while since I've heard Alice's Restaurant, and it was time for a review. . .thanks!

Surely this is the Thanksgiving song:

SCAFFOLD - THANK U VERY MUCH
(M. McGear; R. McGough)
Parlophone R 5643

Thank you very much for the Aintree Iron, thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much
Thank you very much for the Aintree Iron, thank you very, very, very much
Thank you very much for the birds and bees, thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much

Thank you very much for the family circle, thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much
Thank you very much for the family circle, thank you very much, thank you very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very much

You don't know how much they all mean, they seem better in my dreams
It was simply spiffing and true
Let me whisper 'I love you'

Thank you very much for love
Thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much
Thank you very much for love
Thank you very, very, very much

Thank you very much for the Sunday joint
Thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much
Thank you very much for the Sunday joint and our cultural heritage, national beverage, being fat, Union jack, nursery rhyme, Sunday Times, napalm bomb, everyone!
Thank you very much, thank you very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very much

It was simply spiffing and true
Now let me whisper 'I love you'

Thank you very much for the Aintree Iron, thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much

I heard an interview with Arlo Guthrie a year or two ago.

He told the interviewer that he had learned, eventually, that there had been a copy of Alice's Restaurant in the Nixon White House, along with other anti-war material they had compiled.

He pointed out that the length of the song as it was recorded on the album is exactly 18 1/2 minutes. And, as it happens, the infamous gap in the White House Watergate tapes is also exactly 18 1/2 minutes. Can there be any doubt what was on that tape that was so embarrassing to the White House, it had to be erased?

Best wishes,
Jerry

...and all this time I'd thought Tricky Dick had no sense of humor.
