According to this website

http://www.wordcount.org/main.php

whistle is the 8527th most frequently used word in the English language.

Englishman is 8529th.

And whistle is preceded, at 8526th by preceded.

That is all.

Tell us something.: I've been with Chiff and Fipple since shortly after I bought my first low D. I've learned loads from this community, and I intend to continue to learn and contribute. Many thanks to Dale and everyone who makes this site happen.

Clarke is 4227

Pepsi is 30080
Coke is 9957 (but it has several meanings, so it has an advantage)

Gubernatorial is 34698.

Surprisingly, Google is not on the list.

Not surprisingly, feadog is not on the list.

On the QueryCount section it shows the rankings of the words searched for on the WordCount section---that is, how WordCount is used. The number one word typed in is F**K. I find that really sort of astonishing. Or maybe not. I don't know. Of course, then I had to see where it was. It is 5598.

A rank which it owes mostly to George Carlin.

What's 8528th? I need to know what can come between an Englishman and his whistle. :-?

Hmm, I'll have to keep my eyes open for this sneaky chap next time I'm at a session. (Maybe that's where my Susato went.)

I find this intriguing:

(we know what word I was looking for ...)
12697: valves
12698: gypsy
12699: wight
12700: fife
12701: sweetheart
12702: brightness
12703: buds
12704: leisurely
12705: masai
12706: arousal

The challenge:

Use 10 consecutive words from this list in one sentence, in as creative a fashion as possible.

e.g.:

"Whilst my gypsy sweetheart leisurely fingered the valves of her tuba, and I concentrated on the brightness of my fife sound, the buds of arousal were rudely interrupted by the apparition of yet another masai wight!"

Go!
