Grand
Grand
When your post count reaches to a thousand
The chiffboard's voice is raised up loud, and
You're "Hip"-"Hooray"ed (though you think that you're not worthy)
I mean, what makes 1000 so profound?
I guess ... that you could say it's... round,
But it's only zeros that make it seem seem so curvy.
"Besides," you think, "my posts aren't that great.
"I made people mad in at least thirty-eight,
"And forty of 'em where nothing but a smiley!"
You're glad these folks are tolerant though,
You'll annoy them sooner or later, you know,
When you start asking questions about playing the Hurdy-Gurdy.

Congratulations, fearfaoin and welcome to the lounge! I always enjoy your posts and appreciate how willingly you took the Haiku Rap bait.
Btw, does the rhyme scheme you used in your poem (nice!) have a name?

Keep 'em coming!fearfaoin wrote:Oy. That way madness lies.cskinner wrote:I imagine you all know about the subset of this fusion, those artists who defied the mainstream and chose to use rap forms but haiku themes (Hamamura Ho's "Frog Jump in Watta Yo, Persimmon for the daughta" comes most obviously to mind)
I don't even want to think about the war that errupted between the
West Coast Haiku Homeboys and the East Coast Hokku Gangstas.
Why Tupac Basho had to take the fall for the polly-syllabic sins of one
Notorious K.I.G.O., I'll never be able to guess.
But, I'll never forget one of The Beasty Buddhas' early hits:
"The snails climb Mount Fugi, but ever so slow
I really love the springtime, cause that's when winds blow
I pass by a quiet stream, where will it flow?
Birds are eating Shiki's corn, despite the scarecrow!"
